We all say that we want to achieve more but how do we start and, just as importantly, how do we maintain the energy and drive when things get tough? Philip's career in top sales and marketing roles has given him huge insights into the topic of motivation - secrets that he now shares with audiences around the world.Philip was born and raised in a traditional two-up, two-down end terrace house in the Lancashire mill town of Ashton-under-Lyne to the east of Manchester. He studied Psychology at Newcastle University. During this time he spent twelve months on a psychiatric ward though happily as a student not a patient! He then joined soap powder giants Procter & Gamble where he learned to sell detergent to unsuspecting housewives. Within 18 months of joining he had become P&G's Salesman of the Year, as testified by the nation's underwear which by now was whiter-than-white. In 1986 he became a founding director of Advertising Principles in Leeds, West Yorkshire. Originally only in the county to do missionary work, he developed the company over the next 17 years as New Business Director and Managing Partner seeing the company grow from a standing start to a £48 million company employing over 150 people. Having spent his entire working life studying and practising persuasion and influence, Philip is now a speaker on ‘The Psychology of Persuasion’. It is the subject that has dominated his academic and professional career to date; his knowledge and understanding of it has been at the very root of his success. He is a speaker and raconteur. He offers wit and wisdom on human behaviour and how to influence it. He wants to be the best speaker on the planet. He wants ‘Life’s A Game So Fix The Odds’ to be the classic on persuasion and influence and he wants to play live with Ralph McTell. | |
