Internet Marketing is a separate skill just like Direct Marketing, Advertising, CRM, Product Management or Pricing. There are a lot of technical red herrings out there so you need to be careful. The three key elements you need to worry about are your basic marketing – you have to have a strong foundation, online basics - you need to know your tools, and measurements – this is like direct marketing on steroids. With a little bit of science and some art you can master Internet Marketing. Duncan Shand has worked for a number of different NZ companies from the IT sector to Biotech from Small to Air New Zealand. He started in the Accounting department but it didn't take long to figure out the Sales & Marketing team had more fun! Over the last 3 years in particular he has specialised in online and email marketing.
